Privacy Policy

1. Information the app stores

Everything below is created by you while using the app and is stored only on your device (and in your private iCloud, if enabled). The app never asks for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, or location, and it does not collect any device identifiers.

• Your library: the books you add — title, authors, cover image, ISBN, page count, genre, format (print, e-book, or audiobook), and reading status, plus any custom shelves you create.
• Reading progress: your current page, reading sessions (date, duration, start and end page), reading history, and re-read records (past read-throughs with their dates, ratings, and reviews).
• Your notes: quotes you save (with page numbers and notes), star ratings, and written reviews.
• Habit data: daily reading goal, yearly book goal, per-book target dates, streaks, challenge progress, and earned badges.
• Imported library files: if you import a CSV export from Goodreads or StoryGraph, the file you pick is read on your device to create books in your library. The file itself is not kept, and nothing from it is uploaded anywhere.
• App preferences: small settings such as your daily reminder time and onboarding state.

2. Where your data is stored

• All of your data is stored locally on your device in the app's on-device database (SwiftData).
• If your device is signed in to iCloud, your data syncs to your own private iCloud database via Apple's CloudKit, under your Apple Account. This private database is only accessible to you — not to us or anyone else.
• Librixa does not operate any backend server and never receives a copy of your data.
• To power widgets, the app writes a small summary (your streak, current book, and goal progress) into a shared container on your device. It never leaves your device.
• If you use the Librixa Apple Watch app, that same small summary is sent directly to your paired watch via Apple's WatchConnectivity, and quick-logs from the watch are sent back to your iPhone. This exchange happens only between your own devices.
• There are no accounts, so your data is not linked to any online identity beyond your own iCloud.

3. What we do not collect

• No analytics or usage tracking of any kind.
• No advertising and no advertising identifiers.
• No third-party SDKs — the app is built entirely on Apple frameworks.
• No accounts, sign-ins, or personal identifiers.
• No crash reports or diagnostics sent to us. (You can share standard diagnostics with Apple through iOS settings; that is governed by Apple's privacy policy.)

4. Third-party services

The app talks to exactly one external service: Google Books, used to find book information.

• When you search for a book or scan an ISBN barcode, the app sends only your search text or the scanned ISBN to the Google Books API to fetch matching titles, and downloads cover images from Google's servers. These requests are anonymous: they include no account, no API key tied to you, and no personal identifiers. Google may see your IP address as part of any internet request; see Google's Privacy Policy for how Google handles requests.
• Cover images are cached on your device so your library also works offline.
• iCloud sync is provided by Apple's CloudKit and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and your iCloud settings.
• Everything else — your library, sessions, streaks, challenges, and stats — works fully offline and involves no network requests.

5. Device permissions

• Camera: used only to scan book barcodes (ISBN) so you can add books instantly. The camera feed is processed live on your device; no photos or videos are captured, stored, or transmitted.
• Notifications: optional, used only for a daily reading reminder you set yourself. The reminder text is composed on your device from your own streak and goal data, and reminders are skipped on days you have already met your goal. You can change or revoke both permissions anytime in the iOS Settings app.
• Files: when you import a library CSV, the app uses the standard iOS file picker and reads only the single file you choose, entirely on-device.

6. On-device AI

Librixa's AI features — book recommendations, monthly reading recaps, discussion questions, and quote insights — are generated with Apple Foundation Models (Apple Intelligence), running on your device on iOS 26.

• The AI works from your own library, quotes, and stats, and processes them entirely on-device.
• Nothing is sent to any server for AI processing — not to us, and not to a third-party AI provider.
• If Apple Intelligence is not available on your device, the AI features are simply hidden; no data is affected.

7. Sharing you initiate

Some features let you share images — a quote card or your Year in Books summary. These images are rendered entirely on your device and handed to the standard iOS share sheet. Nothing is shared unless you choose to share it, and where it goes is entirely up to you.

8. Data retention and deletion

Because your data is stored only on your device and in your private iCloud, you are always in control of it.

• You can delete individual books, sessions, quotes, and reviews inside the app at any time.
• Deleting the app removes its local data from your device.
• Data synced to iCloud can be removed by deleting it in the app before uninstalling, or by managing the app's iCloud data in iOS Settings → your Apple Account → iCloud.

9. Children's privacy

Librixa does not collect personal data from anyone, including children. The app has no accounts, no social features, and no advertising.

10. Changes to this policy

If the app's data practices ever change, this policy will be updated here with a revised "Last updated" date. Because the app has no server and no accounts, any future change could never retroactively affect data that has always stayed on your device.
